Transportation throughout our counties can often be a challenge, especially for the elderly and those that are disabled. VolTran is an organization of all volunteer drivers who donate their time and use their own vehicles and gas to drive these individuals. VolTran volunteers provide the transportation necessary to take care of the medical and social needs of the elderly, disabled, and others in serious need so they can remain independent and enhance their quality of life. Our passengers need rides to medical appointments, physical therapy, pharmacy visits, Social Security appointments, grocery shopping, and for other necessary errands. In 2018, our volunteer drivers gave 1700 hours of their time to drive 675 people over 28,000 miles. VolTran provides services to residents of Fauquier, Rappahannock, and Northern Culpeper counties.
Volunteer drivers must agree to have a Motor Vehicle Record check and a background check in order to drive for VolTran. VolTran also offers supplemental insurance for all drivers. These safeguards for members of our community and for our volunteer drivers have associated costs. Donations cover these costs and also cover volunteer training and marketing of our program in the community. VolTran is a nonprofit organization. We deliver our services through grants and donations from wonderful people like you! Consider donating today!
