Skyline CAP, Inc.

We are a nonprofit community action agency (CAA) designated by the Governor of Virginia and approved by the localities it serves to provide resources that combat poverty. Incorporated in 1990, we offer education and housing programs designed to empower families and individuals to become self-sufficient. A designated CAA for Greene, Madison and Orange counties, we extend many of our programs to the counties of Fauquier, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah and Warren. Education programs include Head Start, Healthy Families, a home visiting program to promote child well-being and prevent child abuse and neglect, Project Discovery, which is offered to public school students in Madison and Orange counties. Our Housing programs include Housing Choice Vouchers, HUD-approved housing counseling, rental housing, and first-time homebuyers program. Our Emergency Home Repair Program offers services for owner-occupied dwellings in need of basic health and safety repairs including plumbing, electrical, safety and accessibility. Priority is given to seniors and persons with disabilities. Currently, there is a significant increase in requests for major roof repairs following the destructive weather events over the past year. • $20 defrays the cost of materials for minor home repairs

• $500 defrays the cost of energy efficient doors and windows and plumbing repairs

• $1,000 defrays the cost of labor and materials for wheelchair ramps and roof repairs

Healthy Families

• $20 funds a gas card for personal development (GED, post-secondary education)
  $50 funds a newborn Starter Set (diapers, wipes, bottles, pacifiers, etc.)

Project Discovery

• $500 funds a post-secondary education scholarship for one high school student
