Rappahannock Benevolent Fund
The annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner is the primary fundraiser for the Rappahannock Benevolent Fund, allowing us to support our neighbors in need. Because of the generosity of our community, in 2018, we were able to assist more than 150 local families with 188 grants. This assistance has taken many forms with the largest request being for rent and utilities. Forty-seven grants were awarded for rent and housing expenses. In addition, we have helped with grants for medical care and transportation. Of the 150 grants, 19 have come under a new initiative, ‘Safe & Healthy Homes.’ This program assists county residents with home repairs. The goal of the program is to help families and elderly individuals to remain in their homes. Grants are normally paid out only to vendors (e.g., the Electric Company) not to individuals and records are kept to assure that individuals do not exploit the program. The RBF Directors are currently five individuals from among the clergy of Rappahannock churches and 2 lay persons from the community. Help us respond to the needs of the Rappahannock community.
