People Inc. - Empowering Culpeper

People, Inc.’s mission is to provide opportunities for economically disadvantaged people to reach their goals in order to enhance their lives, their families, and their communities. Today what began as a small community based organization in Washington County, VA, has grown into People Incorporated of Virginia, one of the Commonwealth’s largest and most successful Community Action Agencies, which now serves Culpeper, Fauquier, and Rappahannock.

Empowering Culpeper has been serving Culpeper residents in need of assistance with food since 2004 and has been a program of People Inc. as of August, 2017. The food distribution center operates on the third Saturday of each month at Culpeper United Methodist Church. The program is 100% volunteer-led. Many individuals on fixed incomes or using SNAP run out of food as the month draws to an end. Providing a large amount of food during this time helps individuals in greatest need. From September 2016 through August 2017, 5,552 individuals received 2,628 boxes of food. Help us build futures and realize dreams.
