Changing the conversation about mental health and substance abuse
Mental Health Association of Fauquier
We were established in 1964 when local citizens came together to create the first mental health clinic in the region. We are a grassroots, nonprofit, advocacy, and action group that work to increase awareness of mental health and substance use, decrease the stigma often associated with mental illness and addiction, and improve access to behavioral health treatment. We are an affiliate of Mental Health America. Our mission is urgent. Due to stigma and inability to find appropriate treatment, the average length of time between a person experiencing mental health symptoms and getting treatment is 10 years. Help us promote Mental Health First Aid classes, provide leadership for the Youth and Family Initiative to combat substance use and addition, and work with the Fauquier Free Clinic to integrate mental health treatment and medical care in our community. With your assistance, we can change the conversation about mental health and substance abuse.
