Fostering educational excellence in Rappahannock County
Headwaters
We were founded in 1997 by a group of public school parents to provide independent support for the public school system and to increase community involvement in education. Our programs serve all of Rappahannock’s children, aiming to reach those at greatest risk. The Next Step program makes sure all students have the resources they need to create and carry out the college, vocational, or career plans that are right for them. Our Starfish Mentoring fosters one-on-one relationships where trained adult volunteers meet weekly with local youth to serve as caring, nurturing role models. After-School Enrichment provides a safe, exciting alternative for after-school time for children. READ provides tutoring to Kindergarten and 2nd Grade students, with a primary focus on reading. Farm-to-Table supports classroom study of horticulture, environmental science, conservation, planting and maintenance of school gardens, and hands-on experiences at local family farms. Help us foster educational excellence in Rappahannock County.
