Culpeper Housing and Shelter Services

Our mission is to provide shelter and safe, affordable housing to homeless and low-income Culpeper residents.

We were formed in 1988 by a group of local residents who were concerned about the growing homeless population. Recently we started doing business as Culpeper Housing and Shelter Services (CHASS). The name change was to identify more with what the organization does on a daily basis, which is providing shelter and helping those in need obtain stable, permanent housing. Among our services, we operate a 15 bed Emergency Homeless Shelter in Culpeper, VA. The shelter is for families and individuals who are literally homeless as a result of eviction, loss of home through fire, loss of employment, economic disparity, or family/medical emergency. The shelter provides a temporary place to stay while dealing with crisis issues. We also have programs aimed at preventing homelessness and case management services for clients, such as life skills and budgeting training. Help us provide shelter for those in need.
