Aging Together
Connecting local aging residents to community programs
Aging Together
Aging Together builds collaborations that create and enhance supports for older persons, their families, and their caregivers. Our vision is that the needs and preferences of older adults will be recognized and honored as our region creates livable communities for all ages. We want all citizens aging together to enjoy a lifelong sense of place and community, to be able to contribute to their community and when needed to have ready access to diverse supports from family, friends, helping organizations and a responsive local government.
Aging Together has done programs on Safe Medication Use, Storage and Disposal; Scams and Identity Theft; Management of Chronic Illness; Driving As You're Getting Older; How to be an Alzheimer's-Friendly Business; Navigating the Stages of Senior Care; and much more. Our May 2016 conference at Germanna Community College featuring Teepa Snow, nationally known expert on dementia care, drew over 340 people, from all over the state and beyond. With our 150+ community partners -- hospitals, home care agencies, senior centers, church leaders, social workers and more -- we provide programs geared to education, training, celebrating the achievements of older people and even fun! We've conducted dozens of classes and events each year and our attendees always rate our presentations highly
